Mbale

Mbale is a city situated in the Eastern Region of Uganda, serving as the primary municipal, administrative, and commercial hub for Mbale District and its surrounding sub-region. It is located approximately 225 kilometers (140 miles) northeast of Kampala, Uganda's capital, accessible via an all-weather tarmac highway. The city rests at an average elevation of 1,156 meters (3,793 feet) above sea level, with its coordinates at 1°04'50.0"N, 34°10'30.0"E. Mbale is also connected by a railway line running from Tororo to Pakwach. A significant natural landmark nearby is Mount Elgon, one of East Africa's highest peaks, is located about 48 kilometers (30 miles) to the north-east by road.As the main municipal center, Mbale City provides a range of public services and information on local initiatives and activities for its residents.
