Boma Ng'ombe

Boma Ng'ombe is a rapidly growing town situated in the Hai District of the Kilimanjaro Region in Tanzania. Geographically, it is located between the Sanya River and the Mungushi gulch, and it lies along the Arusha-Himo road. The town is conveniently positioned approximately 17 kilometers from Kilimanjaro International Airport, with the headquarters of the Hai District found just north of the main road.The name "Boma Ng'ombe" translates to "a bovine palisade." According to the 2002 Tanzanian census, the town had a population of 17,674. The broader administrative ward of Hai Mjini, which encompasses Boma Ng'ombe, spans an area of 54 square kilometers and sits at an average elevation of 1,388 meters (4,554 feet). The 2012 census recorded the total population of the Hai Mjini ward as 34,098.Boma Ng'ombe is a hub for local commerce, featuring a public market that operates twice a week. The town also provides educational facilities, including Isala High School, which was the sole A-Level institution within the ward as of 2012. The surrounding region is celebrated for its natural beauty, offering stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro and serving as a gateway to nearby wildlife reserves, making it an ideal base for hiking and safari adventures. The dry season, typically from June to October, is considered the optimal time to visit for outdoor activities and wildlife viewing.
