Established in 1892, Fouriesburg Country Inn is a historic four-star hotel located at 17 Reitz Street in the small town of Fouriesburg, situated in South Africa's eastern Free State. Built from local sandstone and Oregon pine, the property carries significant regional heritage. In 2015, the inn was purchased by local farmer Gilly Scheepers, who had spent childhood Sundays playing on its verandah, and his wife Renè. The property underwent renovations to update its facilities while preserving its historical character, incorporating artwork from local artists and establishing an organic vegetable garden on-site to supply the restaurant.The hotel comprises 31 en-suite guest rooms, including 6 luxury rooms housed within the Voesie Maarman annex set amid manicured gardens, as well as a mix of standard and family rooms. Accommodation options feature private verandah seating, satellite television, and standard modern conveniences. On-site facilities include a 70-seater restaurant serving traditional country cuisine, an underground wine cellar available for private dining, and the Clock and Train Bar, which features a wood-burning fireplace during winter months.
