Nosy Ankao is a secluded, ultra-luxury island located off the northeastern coast of Madagascar, forming the largest of five islands in a private archipelago. This 2,500-acre castaway paradise is so remote that guests typically arrive by helicopter. The island is characterized by untouched white-sand beaches, aquamarine bays, and winding waterways. Its terrain includes fragrant forests and craggy rocks. The island is a haven for unique biodiversity, with marine-protected waters featuring healthy coral gardens teeming with various fish species like angel fish, triggerfish, fusiliers, and bumphead parrotfish. On land, conservation efforts have led to the presence of rehabilitated lemurs and chameleons, which can be spotted on guided nature walks. Between July and October, helicopter tours offer opportunities for humpback whale spotting. The island also has a historical element, with an original 1910s lighthouse still standing, offering panoramic views.Nosy Ankao is home to Miavana by Time + Tide, an exclusive resort developed with a focus on sustainable design and conservation. Activities available include scuba diving, snorkeling, fishing, kiteboarding, ocean safaris, lemur trekking, quad biking, and helicopter excursions. The island also features a natural and human history museum, providing insights into Madagascar's geography, history, and conservation initiatives.
