Ifunda

Ifunda is an administrative ward situated within the Iringa Rural district of the Iringa Region in Tanzania. Located approximately 45 kilometers from Iringa town, this geographical area recorded a population of 12,765 residents in 2016, showing a slight increase from 12,199 people in 2012. The ward is characterized by its elevation, standing at 1779 meters (5836.61 feet) above sea level. It is comprised of six distinct villages and 30 smaller administrative units known as "vitongoji," which include areas such as Ifunda, Bandabichi, Kibena, Mfukulembe, Udumka, and Mibikimitali.A prominent feature of Ifunda is the Ifunda Technical Secondary School, an institution officially recognized and accredited by the National Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NACTVET) in Tanzania. The school is dedicated to providing high-quality academic and trade technology education, offering both ordinary and advanced level courses with a strong emphasis on science combinations. Its educational philosophy aims to cultivate well-rounded citizens proficient in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), integrating these subjects across all areas of learning to prepare students for various career paths. The school is supported by a team of 80 qualified teachers and serves approximately 1000 students, maintaining a favorable student-teacher ratio of 13:1. The campus is equipped with essential facilities, including modern classrooms, specialized laboratories, and comfortable dormitories for its students.
