The Carnivore Restaurant, located in the Langata suburb of Nairobi, Kenya, is renowned for its unique all-you-can-eat meat buffet, often referred to as a "Beast Of A Feast." Established in 1980 by Martin Dunford and partners, it is owned by the Tamarind Group and was inspired by the Brazilian churrascaria concept. The restaurant's specialty involves a wide array of meats, traditionally cooked over an open fire on Maasai swords and served on cast-iron plates.Initially, Carnivore was famous for serving exotic game meats such as giraffe, wildebeest, ostrich, and crocodile. However, following a ban on the sale of wild game meat in Kenya in 2004, the restaurant now primarily offers domestic meats like beef, pork, lamb, and chicken, alongside farmed ostrich and crocodile. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and steakhouse options are also available to cater to diverse preferences.Beyond its distinctive dining experience, Carnivore is a comprehensive entertainment venue. It features the Simba Saloon, a large nightclub with a capacity of 2,500, which hosts concerts by both local and international artists.
