Takawiri Island

Takawiri Island is a small, tropical escape nestled in Lake Victoria, within Homa Bay County in western Kenya. Located approximately 1.2 kilometers southeast of Mfangano Island, it is accessible by the Mbita Ferry or motorized boats from Mbita Point. The island is characterized by its pristine, palm-fringed white sandy beaches, clear azure waters, and inviting tropical weather, often compared to Kenya's coastal regions but with a unique, wildly scenic landscape.The island boasts a rich biodiversity, serving as a haven for hippos and a vast array of birdlife.
